The Studio Diary
The first print experiment
I am slightly hampered by not having any suitable plant material growing yet - there is only so much you can do with oxalis.
I did however find a couple of dried sweet cicely leaves in a book - this is the first. It is printed onto paper and a bit of damask paper and is 4g per litre ferrous sulphate (which I shall call M2 medium here). You can see the background - particularly on the tablecloth - is slightly purple.
I am very pleased with the crispness of the print - particularly on the paper, and I really like the gold colour. The damask adds a great texture to the print, though it does reflect the light if not straight on. I need to decide if this is a good or a bad thing!
This is likely to be the technique I show at the workshop in June - foraging for suitable plant material and then making postcard sized art works.
