The Studio Diary
Preparing for an in person workshop
One drawback to working seasonally is that now - when I need to double check that a particular idea will work for an in person event in July - there is very little plant material around to experiment with.
So this is a sample with oxalis. I've never been so happy to have this invasive weed!
The idea is that we will print - and possibly dye - napkins to use at a meal the next day.
Ideally I would like to use vintage napkins, or perhaps cut up a damaged vintage tablecloth, rather than use new fabric - so I tried printing with oxalis onto a bit of damask.
The weave is very tight, sheeny and textured so I wasn't sure it would work - but here you are, a little bit of bleed but not much. Enough to let me know it will work as a concept.
The workshop will be in July - I'll give you the final details when I have them.
