Sweet Cicely is a remarkably underrated dye plant. These leaves were harvested from shady hedgerows in our dye garden, dried with care, and packed in a traditional string-and-washer envelope—ready for your next dye project.
Used on its own, Sweet Cicely yields a soft, zingy greenish yellow. Add iron, and it deepens into a vibrant green.
Because it’s dried, you need far less than fresh. Use 5–10% of the weight of your fibres. Prepare like tea: pour boiling water over the plant material, steep overnight, and use as you would a fresh extract.
