It Actually Fits
![]()
I’ve just finished the cardigan from my 1944 Vogue Knitting Book, the Wheatear Rib pattern, and I’m still a bit delighted with it.
This one took months. Not because the knitting itself was hard, but because the pattern was written for a 34 inch bust, and I am not a 34 inch bust. Working out how to resize it properly, rather than just guessing and hoping, meant going right back into the pattern and understanding how it was actually built.
I’m undecided on two things. The pattern calls for double crochet round all the edges and I don’t get on with crochet, so I’ve left it off everywhere except the collar, where it was needed to stop the fabric turning in. And I’ve made the pockets but haven’t committed to attaching them yet.
