Natural Dyeing with Food Waste: May Studio Companion
Our price: £19.95Or just £15.95 for our members – join now!
For May’s Stitched tutorial, this kit brings together the materials I used to dye threads and silk using food waste—onion skins, tea bags, avocado stones and more.
It’s not a course in a box. It’s a companion. A small gathering of good materials, ready to meet whatever’s on your kitchen counter.
Everything is chosen for ease and beauty: thread that takes colour well, cloth that loves a natural dye pot, modifiers that open up a full spectrum.
There are only a few kits—just enough for those who’d like to follow along without having to source ingredients or prep fabric.
This kit is for you if…
- You want to begin dyeing without having to prep or scour fabric
- You’re curious about food waste dyeing but don’t want to overthink it
- You’re ready to follow along with May’s Studio tutorial, step by step
- You love the feel of a project that begins simply, with materials that are ready to meet colour

Exciting!

I'm always excited to receive an order from Jane as she uses fabulous packaging and includes a tag with an outline nature drawing - I like to colour these in with watercolour.
This particular package includes supplies to get going with vegetable dyeing. The results of Jane's video workshop are amazing, gorgeous colours from everyday waste like onion skins and coffee grounds.

Perfect!

I bought this lovely set of supplies for the ‘Dyeing with Food Waste’ part of Jane’s recent Studio Club course and was absolutely delighted with it. As someone who had never dyed anything before the course, gathering supplies felt a bit daunting however, this pack, with everything you could possibly need to get started (apart from the food waste), solved that problem. Suffice to say, I’m now completely hooked on natural dyeing. Highly recommended. Thank you for putting this perfect pack together, Jane.
