Natural plant dyed threads: Sample pack Yellow

These same packs of threads are all hand dyed with plants from my garden.

The process is a slow one which takes place over many days, harvesting, creating the dye, mordanting, dyeing and drying - the result is a range of soft, natural colours which blend well together.  There is something very special about the colours that you get from plants.

The weather, the season and the soil all effect the colours produced by the plants and each colour batch is completely unique.

The threads are made from recycled cotton and have a high shine - they are perfect for decorative mending and embroidery. The threads vary slightly in colour.

The sample packs contain four different coloured threads (3 m of each); Sweet Cicely, French marigold and both Hawthorn leaves and twigs.

Botanically dyed threads should be kept out of direct sunlight and washed in cold water to prolong their colour.
