  <description><![CDATA[I loved this post, Jane. I was born just three years after this Vogue Knitting Book came out, 1947, and I well remember my mother getting such books and making with ease what today would seem to be very complex and time-consuming knits. The War was still very much in everyone's mind, and though here in the USA rationing had been lifted, still, there was a respect and intentionality towards materials that is entirely missing in our throwaway culture today.
Thank you for bringing this era to your readers. And I'm going to rent "Lee" on Amazon tonight.]]></description>
